AC Evaporator

AC Evaporator

Located inside the dashboard, the AC evaporator is the component that actually cools the air. As cold liquid refrigerant passes through it, warm air from the cabin is blown over the evaporator coil, chilling the air before itโ€™s sent through the vents. A failing evaporator can cause poor cooling, musty smells, or refrigerant leaks inside the car. Replacing it often requires removing parts of the dash, which can make it a labor-intensive repair.
