ABS (Antilock Braking System)

Antilock Braking System (ABS) is a safety feature that prevents the wheels from locking up during hard braking. Locked wheels can cause you to skid and lose steering control—especially on slippery roads. ABS pulses the brakes rapidly to keep the wheels rotating just enough to maintain traction. When you feel a vibration or pulsing in the brake pedal during sudden stops, that’s ABS doing its job. The system includes wheel speed sensors, a control module, and hydraulic valves, and has been mandatory in most cars since 2012.
