Brake rotors, also called brake discs, are metal discs attached to each wheel that rotate along with the wheel. When the brake pads clamp down on them, friction is created, which slows the car. Rotors can warp or wear unevenly due to heat, causing vibrations or pulsations when braking. They can be resurfaced in some cases, but often it's best to replace them with new ones when pads are changed for optimal braking.
